Many Muslims in the United States have probably never read all of the Koran or, at least, do not take all of its decrees literally. The problem is, if they keep their innermost beliefs to themselves, how do we distinguish those Muslims who accept all of The Koran's teachings from those who do not. If only one in a thousand were willing to kill for their faith we could be in serious trouble. I would not be surprised if there are hundreds, if not thousands, of potential Islamic terrorists in this country at this very moment…not a pleasant thought!

Our leaders will need great wisdom and discernment to deal with this delicate situation. How does one protect peace-loving Muslims while punishing those who approve of terrorism, if one cannot tell the difference?

I first became a student of global religious and political trends during the 1980s when I was the Europe and Middle East Trade Specialist for the government of Indiana. My travels took me to over 20 countries where I worked hand-in-hand with U.S. Embassy personnel who were responsible for arranging most of my meetings. Through my contacts at the embassies and in the international business community, I soon discovered that there was a concerted effort underway to establish a one world government. A push was also being launched to unify the world's religions into one collective whole. Various interfaith/New Age meetings were being planned to make this happen. I wrote about these developments in my two books En Route to Global Occupation and The New World Religion in an attempt to warn the world, particularly Christians, of things to come. If we were forewarned we could perhaps become spiritually prepared for the difficult times ahead.

As a result of my research, I became fully convinced that terrorism is an important part of the one world agenda. I believe Satan is using it to apply pressure on Western society to get people to go along with a solution that under normal circumstances they would never accept. If humans could be brought to the point where they thought the world is on the verge of destruction, then perhaps they might finally be willing to embrace a one-world political/religious system promising to bring peace while solving Earth's many problems.

If this conclusion is accurate, then we can be certain that Osama bin Laden and his Taliban supporters are not acting alone. The Al Qaeda network of terrorists is vast and has a large secret support base throughout the Islamic realm and around the world. During my years with the government I discovered that secret societies are a big part of Middle Eastern culture (and have a significant influence in other nations too). The most dominant of these societies is Freemasonry.

A prominent Arab-Christian leader in Lebanon once told me that King Assad of Syria was a Mason. He thought that Saddam Hussein was as well, although he could not verify it. Many of the most influential globalists who are pushing the one world agenda are also Masons, including Mikhail Gorbachev. Recently while doing a talk show in California, the host, Dr. Stan Monteith, told me that he now had documentation proving that Gorbachev became a Mason while in England.

The fact is, secret societies have an ultimate goal. This is why they exist and why they are secret.² On pages 144-145 of En Route to Global Occupation I wrote about their hidden agenda: "In August 1871 Albert Pike, the head of Scottish Rite Freemasonry… described a distant final war, which he felt would be necessary to usher in the New World Order. According to Pike, this conflict between two future superpowers would be sparked by first igniting a crisis between Islam and Judaism." He went on to state:

We shall unleash the nihilists and the atheists and we shall provoke a great social cataclysm which, in all its horror, will show clearly to all nations the effect of absolute atheism, the origin of savagery and of most bloody turmoil. Then, everywhere, the people, forced to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization; and the multitudes, disillusioned with Christianity whose deistic spirits will be from that moment on without direction and leadership, anxious for an ideal but without knowledge where to send its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out into public view; a manifestation which will result from a general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time.

I continued to write, "Should such a crisis be permitted to occur, the amount of destruction would be staggering. Humanity would tremble with fear believing that man is about to destroy himself… It would be a time of despair and mass confusion. Add to this the resulting chaos of global financial markets, which are already on the brink of disaster; the economic turmoil would only contribute to the world's state of panic.

Once such a war began, there would be no guarantee that the United States or Europe would remain entirely unscathed." I penned these words in 1987. The book went to print in 1991. I had no idea how close this depiction might eventually come to reality.

America's Destiny

Where does America fit in, and what role, if any, is it playing in shaping the emerging global government? During the last century our beloved country has been blessed beyond measure. By the grace of God and through His favor it has risen to become the wealthiest and most powerful nation on Earth. However, since World War II the influence of the U.S. has increasingly been manipulated by internationalists to accomplish their purpose.

Beginning in a major way with the founding of the United Nations, the chief task of the United States would be to "build" the New World Order. Only the U.S. had the wherewithal to put all of the pieces in place. It has been our financial resources, creative technology and cultural diversity that have made the occult New Age dream of "one world" possible. We are also the only nation comprised of people from all other nations, giving us an unparalleled influence over the rest of the world.

But now that we have taken humanity to the verge of global unification through the United Nations, is there anything left for us to do? Has the United States fulfilled its destiny in the eyes of global planners? How might the answer to this question affect our future?

If global leaders still have a purpose for America in their overall scheme of things, then perhaps we have a bit more time. But, if in their eyes, we have achieved our purpose, then we are expendable and could soon be eliminated from the picture. I addressed these possibilities in En Route to Global Occupation. Regarding the fate of America, I wrote:

Having gained some idea of America's role in building the New World Order, the only remaining question I had was 'What will happen to the U.S. once it has fulfilled its mission?' There is some disagreement among researchers on this question. Some believe that once we have entered the New World Order, Europe will be made the headquarters of the world government. Others believe that the seat of power for the world government will be in the United States, specifically in New York City.

As things currently stand, New York would be the logical choice to be the world's capitol, given the fact that it is the most powerful and influential city in the world and that the United Nations, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Trilateral Commission are all headquartered there. However, the secret hierarchy of Europe, which is still ultimately in charge, might have different plans. If they intend to locate the world capitol in Europe, they will find a way to do so. Such a decision, however, would probably involve either the economic devastation or physical destruction of New York City. This could be accomplished in several ways – economically, through a planned collapse of the stock market or a severe depression resulting from our excessive national debt; or physically, as an act of terrorism, as a nuclear 'accident,' or through a limited nuclear war. Whatever method would be selected, the European hierarchy, I believe, would be capable of carrying it out (if God allows it).

Is New York destined for destruction? I don't know the answer to this question, nor do I wish such a fate upon the people of that city. However, the parallels between New York and the great, but wicked city described as Mystery Babylon in Revelation 17 and 18 are difficult to ignore. I can only hope these passages are describing something else (page 65)

The current unfolding crisis could determine America's future, one way or the other. Maybe the purpose of the recent attacks was merely to give America the "opportunity" to further lead the way in uniting the world against a common enemy – terrorism. At this very moment an unprecedented international coalition is being built to combat this terrible menace. But could this coalition and the steps it puts in motion actually help speed the cause of global government?

The world's unified response to terrorism, no matter how restrained, will only serve to strengthen the hand of government at the expense of personal liberty. It will lead to higher taxes, increased surveillance, less privacy and fewer freedoms, to say nothing of the many smaller inconveniences such as having to arrive two hours early at airports for flight travel. All of these are natural responses by governments to protect their citizens, but represent a victory for terrorists nonetheless. If national governments aren't extremely careful, these measures could be used to further empower the existing international infrastructure, leading us more quickly to world government.

September's atrocities are producing another result. The spirit of interfaithism is running at an all time high in America. Every religious service I have witnessed on network television during the last two weeks has been interfaith in nature. The eventual "success" of a world government will depend heavily on the degree of religious unity it can achieve throughout the world. Revelation, chapters 13 & 14, describe a global political system that will use its economic and military might to enforce a deceptive form of religious worship. Once in place, this corrupt antichrist system will become so invincible that only the return of Jesus Christ will stop it (II Thessalonians, chapter 2).

We have considered one potential scenario for America; but another possibility exists. If America has fulfilled her purpose for the cause of globalism, the coming war could be a trap designed to bring her to ruin. How could this happen? Let's consider a potential sequence of events.

In the very near future America will undoubtedly retaliate for the evil perpetrated against her. Bin Laden expects nothing less and will use America's response to unify Islamic fundamentalists. He and his supporters will do so by declaring a Jihad (holy war). When this declaration goes forth a sizable segment of the Islamic population, not only in the Mideast, but elsewhere, could respond. If so, a second and unprecedented wave of terrorism would hit the U.S. and, possibly, Israel. But this would be just the beginning.

After multiple rounds of terrorist acts – potentially ranging from biological/chemical warfare to the detonation of nuclear devices – the impact on U.S. citizens and the economy would be devastating. Completely preoccupied with managing these disasters, and in a state of disarray, America would be in her weakest hour. If America's historical enemies (Russia and China) were ever to make a move, this would be the time. As unthinkable as it may seem, they could use such an opportunity "to finish us off."

We have been led to believe that we are the world's only remaining superpower; but nothing could be further from the truth. A number of former Soviet military leaders – some of them now Christians – have warned the United States that while Russia appears to be economically weak, from a military standpoint she is stronger than ever. The fact is, Russia has been engaged in a concerted military build-up while we have been scaling back.

In my book The New World Religion I document numerous aggressive statements made by Mikhail Gorbachev since the beginning of glasnost and perestroika. None are more troubling than the following. Speaking to the Politburo in 1987, he remarked:

Gentlemen, comrades, do not be concerned about all you hear about glasnost and perestroika and democracy in the coming years. These are primarily for outward consumption. There will be no significant internal change within the Soviet Union, other than for cosmetic purposes. Our purpose is to disarm the Americans and let them fall asleep. (page 135)

Gorbachev is not alone in his views. There are still forces in Russia (as well as China) who would love to see America brought down.

Fortunately, a third and more optimistic scenario exists for the United States. If we, as a nation, repented of our sins – beginning with you and me – and if we humbled ourselves before God, in the name of Jesus Christ, I believe God would restore His protective covering over our nation and delay our impending doom, as He did with Nineveh many centuries ago. Our repentance would have to be genuine and come from our leadership down. However, the clock is ticking. Time is short!

Setting the Stage

If the year 2000 was a coming-out celebration for globalists, this year – and the years to follow – promise to be a time of implementing the one world agenda. The events and meetings being planned for the rest of this year and beyond are specifically designed to give "teeth" to the United Nations and the cause of world government.

Global planners are covering all of the bases – from economics and interfaith religion to issues of sovereignty, gun control, and laws on how to rear children. Paramount to the success of their globalization efforts is the public's acceptance of their extensive environmental program, which is intended to be the main vehicle for achieving U.N. empowerment. The core document of their agenda is the Earth Charter, viewed as the "Magna Carta" of the new world civilization. The chief spokesperson on behalf of the Charter is Mikhail Gorbachev.

Gorbachev officially unveiled the Charter during a formal ceremony in Urbino, Italy on June 8^th. He hopes to get his Charter cleared through the U.N. by the end of next year, after which he expects to move forward with the rapid implementation of global government. If the U.S. doesn't cooperate in helping to "empower" the U.N., Gorbachev and his allies have hinted that the world government might be constructed around a united Europe instead, with Russia at the helm.

Working closely with Gorbachev on this agenda is Pope John Paul II. In The New World Religion I share excerpts from a Denver Post article in which Gorbachev describes his special relationship with the pope.

I have carried on an intensive correspondence with Pope John Paul II since we met at the Vatican in December 1989…

The sense of mutual affection and understanding which resulted from our meeting is to be found in each of our letters.

I cannot help but say that we share a desire to move forward and complete what we began together…

When I was with him, I realized that the pope had also played a role in what we came to call the new political thinking…

What I have always held in high esteem about the pope's thinking and ideas is their spiritual content, their striving to foster the development of a new world civilization.

Besides being pope, John Paul II is also a Slav, and, of course, that too was conducive to our mutual understanding.

However, I remain convinced that the closeness of spirit that was established between us was of much greater significance than the fact that we both are Slavs…

It can be said that everything which took place in Eastern Europe in recent years would have been impossible without the pope's efforts and the enormous role, including the political role, which he played in the world arena (page 241).

Gorbachev's friendship with the pope has not been in vain. On November 4^th and 5^th of last year, unbeknownst to the public, the pope hosted an unprecedented global planning session. The Vatican web page referred to the event as a meeting of "the world's parliament." With prominent European Union officials, thousands of members of national parliaments, and powerful dignitaries such as Gorbachev in attendance, this meeting eclipsed even the prestigious U.N. Millennium Summit as the most important gathering of political leaders last year. Amazingly, to the best of our knowledge, not one American television network covered the event.

Along with playing a critical role in the push for global government the pope has been at center-stage in Mideast diplomacy, meeting with Yasser Arafat and numerous other Arab leaders in the last 18 months. Earlier this year the pope even visited an Islamic Mosque in Syria. Western diplomats, recognizing the Church of Rome's influence, have regularly consulted with Vatican officials over the Jewish/Islamic dilemma.

The end-time alliances spoken of in the book of Revelation are quickly taking shape; the march toward a "new world civilization" is gaining momentum. Even as a fulltime researcher and writer on this subject I am unable to keep up with all of the rapidly unfolding developments. The stage is nearly set!

Understanding God's Purpose

Apart from becoming overwhelmed, how do we respond to the current state of affairs? In order to answer this question we must first address another important question, one being asked in the aftermath of last month's tragedy: "How could God have done this?" Some of those who lost loved ones are unfortunately blaming God for what happened.

As difficult as life can sometimes become, we must all be careful never to blame God for evil when it occurs. God is perfect and created man perfect. It was Satan who lured man into sin and brought evil and destruction into the human race. What happened on September 11^th was of demonic origin, coming from the pits of Hell. God did not cause this; but He did allow it. In His sovereign power He could have stopped these events from occurring in any of a number of ways, but He didn't. What are we, as a people, to learn from this experience?

We must first of all realize that there are times when decent godly people are unfairly treated or persecuted by Satan's vessels for no other reason than because they are doing God's will. We need look no further than the fact that all but one of Jesus' disciples were martyred for their faith. Their deaths were not the result of God's judgment, but rather of Satan's persecution. God in His infinite justice and goodness will see to it that those persecuted for His name's sake will be abundantly rewarded in Heaven, while the evildoers will be justly punished for their deeds.

There are other occasions, however, when God lifts His protective covering from individuals or nations because they have refused to repent of their sins. In such cases, God allows evil to run its course to show people where their actions will eventually lead if they keep going in the same direction.

If God were to lift His protective covering from the entire world, Satan could quickly destroy all of mankind. The Bible teaches that Satan "is as a roaring lion…seeking whom he may devour." (II Peter 5:8) His sole purpose is to deceive and destroy in order to foil God's plan of redemption (John 3:16; I Thessalonians 5:9; II Peter 3:9).

It is important for us to understand that we, as humans, exist only because of the grace and mercy of a loving God. God's purpose for temporarily lifting His protective covering is to bring repentance (a turning away from our sinful ways) so that we are not destroyed. But if we, in our stubbornness, refuse to obey, we will suffer the consequences – the infliction of pain or death and, ultimately, eternal damnation. [Death can occur as a result of many different causes, such as old age. In this instance we are considering only those cases involving the unnatural, violent death of people at the hands of their enemies. In the case of individuals who died in the recent terrorist attacks, those who had placed their trust in Jesus are permanently in His care; tragically, those who didn't know Jesus are now eternally lost. This emphasizes the importance of being prepared to face eternity.]

We can learn from ancient Israel. The Bible reveals that as long as the Israelites were obedient and faithful to God, they enjoyed His protection. However, when they rebelled by embracing the false gods and forbidden ways of surrounding nations, God gradually lifted His protective shield allowing them to be overtaken by their foes. When the Israelites repented of their sins, God once again restored their covering and they were able to defeat their adversaries.

The lesson here for America is, if we are to experience the Lord's blessing and protective covering, we must walk uprightly before Him, especially if we are going to battle. In order to stand against a vicious and determined enemy we must be spiritually and morally prepared. At the present time, WE ARE NOT!

America's Moral Failure

While it is noble to love one's country, we must realize that a sudden burst of patriotism will not win the coming war; nor will celebrating the resilience of the human spirit and displaying "God bless America" banners if we do not honor Him. Holding interfaith prayer vigils and services won't help either.

God will not tolerate the acceptance of false deities. He will not respond to prayers offered in the joint names of Muhammad and Jesus Christ. Such practices are a mockery unto Him. It is because of these very things that God lifts his hand of protection from a people. God provides salvation only through Jesus Christ – not through Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad or anyone else:

	For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (I Timothy 2: 5-6)
	Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Mark 4:12)
	Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
