Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophesies a massive invasion by Russia (Magog) and most Arab states sometime in the future.

Although there still remains widespread speculation by Christians that Russia will join the Arabs in attacking Israel as prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39, the reality is that the Russians simply cannot do it right now. DTT has been saying this since last summer. A Russia Today/Reuters report on February 12 confirmed DTT's long standing analysis and position. Over the past eight months DTT has reported that the massive military buildup along Russia's southern border that would necessary for such an invasion has now been demobilized. Through May of 2000 Russian President Vladimir Putin had been poised for a massive military invasion of Azerbaijan and Georgia (and perhaps points south) to prevent the US from stealing what Russia believes is her oil in the Caspian Sea. (see Feb, May, Jun, Aug, Sep and Oct 2000 Digests)

Since Clinton ceded Azerbaijan and Georgia to Russia, which are now reuniting with Russia, Putin has refocused military spending on a crash program to modernize the Russian army for "regional" wars. Russia has aggressively been negotiating military cooperation treaties and mutual defense pacts with Syria, Iraq and Iran over the past 12 months and especially the past 6 months, but the earliest that Russia would be able to launch an attack against Israel in collaboration as prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39 with the Arab nations would be in 2005 or beyond.

Perhaps one of the more concerning aspects of the Russia Today/Reuters February 12 report is that Russia now joins the US in taking a low profile, more neutral position in regard to Israel. That, however, won't stop the Palestinians or Iraq from escalating the military actions in Israel. Although it is too early to say with certainty, it now is highly likely that the European Union and the United Nations will take the lead in either finding a peaceful solution or a forced peace in Israel, just as prophesied by Daniel 9:27. In spite of all the twists, turns and other gyrations in Israel/Palestinian/Arab/ international politics, events remain on track for the fulfillment of Daniel 9:27. V mc
