| Homosexuality: genetics
or environment? |

February 12, the BBC reported on the human genome project. Apparently,
a group of scientists and researchers are now claiming that as few as
30,000 genes are needed to produce a human, only twice as many as the
humble fruitfly. What was most striking, however, was one of the
scientists behind the project, Dr Craig Venter said this would suggest our
behavior is not determined by our genes, but with
environmental factors playing a large part in shaping our thoughts and
actions.
These statements sharply contradict previous claims by
homosexuals that "they were born that way" as justification for
their sin. Once again, science is proving God's word. Christians are
taught that God has given mankind a free will to choose good or evil...His
way or their own. These recent findings, hopefully, will provide new
incentive for those trapped in harmful lifestyles to seek deliverance from
the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins he
is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness."
Another story in
the New
York Post Friday February 16 concerning the 19 year "split"
between Kathy and Jennifer Levinson, once trailblazers for California's
gay-marriage movement, is a perfect example of the many people who need to
know the real truth about themselves. Jesus said, "you shall know
the truth and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32) One truth
is they weren't born homosexual and they don't have to remain that way. In
fact, the book of Romans explains why certain human beings become
homosexual.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified
him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and
their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be
wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for
images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to
sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one
another...Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even
their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the
same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were
inflamed with lust for one another. (Romans 1:21-23 &
26-27)
A woman who heard Kathy and Jennifer speak said
"Kathy just started talking about the pressure," saying
"Their day is so tough. You go out to dinner with your two kids and
people say ‘Who's the real Mommy?'" Their days are going to
be full of pressure and it reveals much pain because it is not
natural. It goes against God and nature. Worse than their sin, however, is
that as long as society continues to tell the homosexual he can't change
or that he was born that way, he is resigned to live a lifestyle fraught
with unhappiness and despair. Praise God for sending these scientists and
researchers to confirm and reaffirm what the church has been saying all
along. V rm |
