It's environmentalism, stupid. It is about
time someone finally told the truth about the real cause of the electrical
power woes of California. It isn't really about deregulation, as we are
being told. How could it be? The so-called deregulation isn't even truly
deregulation. It was a half-way measure representing the worst of all
worlds and destined to cause problems. California's schizoid power
deregulation only deregulates the producers, not the power deliverers,
like Pacific Gas and Electricity (PG&E). They are still fully
regulated and can only charge their customers a fixed rate, no matter what
the producers charge them. It is a classic New Age brainless approach that
was guaranteed to create exactly this situation and darken homes and
businesses unless the regulators allowed the power deliverers to raise
their rates to astronomic levels.
Even though this state controlled
deregulation is a catastrophe, it is not the reason why California is now
experiencing rolling blackouts. The heart of the problem stems from the
fact that there has been no new power production facilities built since
1980. Deregulation had nothing to do with that. Deregulation didn't happen
until the mid 1990s. So why weren't any new production facilities
constructed? "All of the major industries that produce power have
been under attack by environmental groups," said Ayn Rand resident
fellow Onkar Ghate. CNS
News also reported on January 25 that Ghates said what no one else has
had the guts to say. "Any attempt to produce any new [nuclear] plants
comes under years of litigation. Coal is attacked because it's too dirty,
hydro because of dam construction." Ghate insists energy supplies are
readily available. "We're just not allowed to use them," she
said.
For decades many analysts, including this
editor, warned that environmentalism was going to crash head-on with
reality. Rural citizens had their head-on with environmentalism fifteen to
twenty years ago. Now, mainstream suburban California is meeting its day
of reckoning. Twenty years ago California passed feel-good draconian
environmental legislation, under heavy lobbying pressure by
environmentalists, establishing regulations that economically prohibited
any new power plant construction. Hence, no new production was added. At
the same time the use of electrical power has doubled and in some cases
quadrupled. Duh! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that a
catastrophe was in the making. The only surprise in what is happening is
that it took as long as it did.
No major news outlet wants to put the blame
where it belongs--squarely on the earth-worshiping environmentalists.
True, many environmentalists working for environmental organizations are
not pantheists, or don't think themselves as such. They are simply
gullible, big hearted people who have never been taught to think through
the consequences of their actions, and are therefore easy to manipulate
through their emotions. True, the citizens of California allowed it to
happen because they, too, were sold a bill of goods because it sounded so
good. But, in their ubiquitous ignorance, they were manipulated by the
eco-crazies of the day into believing that somehow they could magically
stop building all those nasty power plants and still have cheap,
dependable electricity. Yeah, and money grows on trees too.
Lest you laugh at the Californians, the
problem exists all over America. States bordering California are facing
skyrocketing costs as their power companies sell power to California,
driving up their own prices. You may be next. Now, of course, Californians
are having to deal with rolling blackouts and 400 percent jumps in their
costs for electricity. As rolling blackouts shut down manufacturing and
business in California, there will be a ripple effect across the entire
economy creating production inefficiencies elsewhere as widgets produced
on the West Coast are no longer available to produce a car in Detroit.
Of course Southern California Edison (SCE)
and PG&E will get their rate hikes. Once they get their hikes what is
the probability they will be rolled back when the crises is over? You
guessed it, not much. There may be some roll-back, but overall the rates
will be much higher than before the crisis. SCE and PG&E will make out
like bandits. People will be forced to conserve--just like the
environmentalists want. And, of course, the government is there to make
sure everyone gets what they want at the citizens expense. Its a beautiful
partnership between government, industry and non-governmental
organizations (NGOs)--just like the UN is putting together today. It
almost sounds like maybe someone wanted it this way 20 years ago when
environmentalists were picketing against new power plants and the
legislature in Sacramento.
California at least has some options to get
out of the mess they put themselves in. That will not be true with the new
world government. It is shockingly clear in UN global governance documents
that these eco-nut NGOs will be in charge when the new world government is
firmly in control. With all power given to the partnerships between
government, industry and NGOs, there will be no checks and balances. Since
they will have absolute control, they will never blame themselves for
their own stupidity. After all, they know in their infinite new age
wisdom that it is you that is the problem, not them. They will honestly
believe that their job will not be to serve you. Rather their job will be
to protect mother earth from you.
This type of irrational action will be the
norm. It will be global governance from the twilight zone. It is not
hypothetical. It is happening in California right now. Better start
praying if you are not already! V
