Full blown panic is now sweeping Europe as
foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) makes its debut on the heels of Mad Cow
Disease. The current outbreak was first reported February 20, 2001, on a
pig farm in Great Britain, but has since spread to Scotland, Northern
Ireland, Wales, Argentina, France, Holland, Denmark, Israel, Saudi Arabia,
and United Arab Emirates. There is a real possibility that the policy
makers and global elite will take advantage of this situation as an excuse
to parlay their one-world goals into a reality? The rapid spread of the
disease is provides an ideal opportunity to find global solutions
through global regulations.
The disease
According to information on the Ministry
of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) website, "foot and
mouth disease is an acute infectious viral disease causing fever, followed
by the development of vesicles (blisters) - chiefly in the mouth and on
the feet. It is probably more infectious than any other disease affecting
animals and spreads rapidly if uncontrolled. Among farm stock, cattle,
sheep, pigs, goats and deer are susceptible. Wild and domestic cloven
hooved animals and elephants, hedgehogs and rats are also
susceptible."
The virus, which is contagious before symptoms appear,
is spread through air, as well as direct or indirect contact with fluid
from the blisters and saliva, exhaled air, milk, and feces. In advanced
cases it is present in the blood and all parts of the body. Infected
cattle exhibit such symptoms as slobbering, shivering, sore feet,
blisters, raised temperature, and reduced milk yield. It is surprising to
note, that in spite of the mass hysteria surrounding the illness, it is
rarely fatal except in young animals. While FMD is easily spread among
animals, it is not believed to pose a threat to humans or food safety, but
can have economically devastating effects.
The impact
Although unsuccessful, gargantuan efforts were
undertaken to keep the virus from spreading to mainland Europe. UK
Agricultural Minister Nick Brown imposed The
Foot-and-mouth Disease Declaratory (Controlled Area) (England and Wales)
(No 2) Order 2001 in March which restricts the movement of animals
into, out of, and within Great Britain, England and Wales, virtually
paralyzing the meat industry as well as farmers. Many countries are
requiring travelers to disinfect their feet and vehicles. National nature
reserves, public parks, and zoos have been closed, and dozens of sporting
events such as horse and auto racing, rugby and football games, and other
gatherings have been cancelled. Just an innocent walk in the woods may
subject a hiker to a hefty fine. Children in rural areas are not even
permitted to go to school! According to the Independent
on April 1, politics are affected, too, as British elections will be
put on hold until June 7.
The number of infected animals is growing each day. As
of April 5, there were 1045 confirmed cases in the UK, and 1,152,000
animals that have been slaughtered or are waiting their turn on Death Row.
Estimates from a BBC
report on March 24 warn that unless infected animals are destroyed
within 24 hours after suspicion of the disease, Great Britain could lose
half of the country's livestock n
or 31 million animals by June. Officials are expressing optimism that the
current policy of "culling" (spelled "killing" to most
folks) is starting to bring the epidemic under control. This may be due,
in part, to the fact that there is just less livestock left to
infect.
The immunization question
Which is worse... the disease or the cure? Why didn't
England and then Europe just launch a massive livestock vaccination
program to stop the disease rather than subjecting hordes of people to a
daily diet of thousands of farm animals being burned in grotesque pyres of
gruesome flesh? This option has several pros and cons. The March
21 Guardian Unlimited reported a seven-page paper prepared by
one of Britain's most prominent vets which proposes emergency vaccination
as the quickest and most effective way to bring the disease under control.
The report proposes immediate emergency vaccinations which can enormously
reduce the risk of airborne and vehicular spread of the diseases to
unaffected areas and would increase public confidence. "It could
result in near 100% vaccination rates within five days and almost complete
immunity in 10 days. A reduction of cases to zero could be expected within
three weeks." It looks good in print, but what about where the rubber
meets the road?
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF)
officials argue that if vaccinations start, Britain will lose its export
market for 3-12 months. They claim that the vaccine is not 100% effective
and requires booster shots and time to build up immunity. Since the
technology to distinguish an infected from a vaccinated animal is in its
infancy, there is no way to cost-effectively distinguish infected from
vaccinated animals, many of the vaccinated animals would be killed anyway.
Surprisingly, the slaughter system has been shown in the past to be far
cheaper than vaccinating every farm animal three times a year. According
to a 1967
Guardian Unlimited archive, the cost issue was thoroughly researched
by the Gowers Committee. Using figures from 1952, it was shown that the
cost of vaccinating all cattle, sheep, and pigs three times would have
been between £50 million and £110 million, depending on the type of
vaccine used. The actual cost of the cull that year was £2,635,000.
The government is reimbursing farmers at full market
value for all animals slaughtered.,
At the current rate, FMD epidemic could
impose an estimated burden
on the taxpayer of £1 billion, and cost the
country £570 million a year in lost revenue.
Nonetheless, by March
7, the Guardian Unlimited reported a ban on all livestock
markets across Europe which will cause enormous economic disruption,
especially to the small farmer.
Serious questions
The back-to-back assault of Mad Cow and Foot-and-mouth
diseases will likely cause the bankruptcy of many, if not most of the
small family farms remaining in Europe, allowing the mega international
corporations to fill the vacuum, turning over local control of their
agriculture and economy to the international business community n
just like is described in chapter 19 of Revelation. But this is not the
only anomaly.
The speed at which the current situation is advancing,
given the fact that Foot-and-mouth Disease reached epidemic proportions in
less than two week's time in a variety of locations, is highly suspicious.
It is not impossible, but certainly improbable that two major outbreaks of
unrelated disease would occur back to back naturally within such a short
period of time. Incredibly, this sounds exactly like what the global elite
might do to precondition people into accepting global governance. The
systematic drumbeat of fear-causing crises in Europe and around the world
is beyond comprehension unless planned. As the facts begin to roll in,
things become even more curious.
An April
1 London Electronic Telegraph article reported that the
"European Union (EU) ordered the immediate testing of all its stocks
of foot and mouth vaccine in January - a month before the outbreak was
'discovered' in Britain." It seems that the EU made the ruling 34
days before the outbreak was announced by the British government. It could
be passed off as a coincidence except that timber dealers in Staffordshire
claimed that they were asked by Ministry of Agriculture officials in
January if they could supply timber for burning animals. "I got a
call from a lady who said, 'This is the Ministry of Agriculture. Would you
be interested in supplying timber in case of foot and mouth?' She said she
wanted to update her records," said Mike Littlehales, of Seighford,
near Stafford. "When I heard about the outbreak a couple of weeks
later I said to my wife, 'That seems strange, the lady phoning me. I
wonder if they already knew'," he said.
Conspiracy theories aside, a CNSNews
report on February 27 also raised the possibility of FMD becoming the
perfect weapon for terrorists. Jane's Intelligence Review, a
leading defense publication, stated that the agricultural sector is
a primary target for international germ-warfare terrorism. "The
farming industry represents a lucrative and vulnerable target for
terrorists in terms of the ease of attack and the level of damage
caused," writes Peter Chalk, a Rand Corporation expert on terrorism.
A devastating economical and psychological impact could be created with
very little investment, leaving minimal, if any, evidence to trace back to
the perpetrators.
A developing psychosis of fear and
panic
Full blown panic is now sweeping Europe as FMD comes on
the heels of Mad Cow Disease. According to the March
21 National Post the disease is the last in a long list of
crises that has developed into a sociological phenomenon. "Europe has
lost its nerve," says Frank Furedi, a sociologist at Britain's
University of Kent and an expert on the new malaise. "Every problem
today, however small, is represented as a major disaster." Every week
brings another study suggesting some cherished food, textile, gadget or
hobby may be harmful. The phthalates used to soften plastic toys are
poisonous; a standard measles vaccine causes autism; electrical power
lines trigger leukemia; genetically modified foods are hazardous. Last
week, European mothers were warned that babies breast-fed beyond four
months are prone to heart disease in later life.
The question is why? Europe is the seat of
rationalization and has undergone some of the worst human tragedies in the
world in its long history, like the bubonic plague and two world wars.
According to the National Post, commentators blame
environmentalists, the media and especially politicians for fostering a
culture of paranoia and panic. To fill the void left by Soviet communism,
European leaders have adopted health hazards n
real or imagined n as the new
bogeyman. "Without the old battle between right and left, politicians
need a new mission," says Thomas Deichmann, a German writer who
specializes in health scares. "Today, the easiest way for them to
connect with the people is to pander to their fears about health."
This makes the EU panderer-in-chief over all its
citizens, developing a psychosis of fear that shuts down rational thought
processes and makes them easy to manipulate. "Driven by the so-called
precautionary principle, which holds that anything that may pose a danger
should be banned or heavily regulated, the EU churns out reams of safety
measures that all add up to a single message: that not even reasonable
precautions and common sense can save us from the health hazards that lurk
round every corner," warns the National Post. "The
European Commission is obsessed with eliminating every last risk from
human life," says Andreas Hansen, a Copenhagen-based pollster and
sociologist. "By treating the public like small children, by nannying
them all the time, they are making Europeans into people who cannot
contemplate risk, however trivial, however theoretical, without
panicking."
Though not as advanced, the same thing is happening in
America as well. We are systematically being turned into lemmings afraid
of our own shadow. The chicken little panic that has gripped Europe and is
well entrenched in America provides fertile ground for citizens to grasp
at any straw that promises safety, no matter how dangerous it is to their
fundamental, God given freedoms. Perhaps we should heed the warning given
by Alexander Hamilton in the Federalist Papers No. 8,
"It
is a truth, which the experience of ages has attested, that the people
are always most in danger when the means of injuring their rights are in
the possession of those of whom they entertain the least suspicion....
Safety from external danger is the most powerful director of national
conduct. Even the ardent love of liberty will after a time, give way to
its dictates…. [t]he continual effort and alarm attendant on a state
of continual danger, will compel nations the most attached to liberty to
resort for repose and security to institutions which have a tendency to
destroy their civil and political rights. To be more safe, they at
length become willing to run the risk of being less free."
However the disease originated, three key components of
global governance are at work: Farmers are being reduced to paupers,
governmental control over the citizens is increasing, and a food shortage
is brewing that will cause more dependence on the government and possibly
usher in the famines that are prophesied about in Matthew 24:7-8,
"There will be famines...in various places. All these are the
beginning of birth pains." It is a diabolical recipe made in hell
for those promoting world government. Keep a wary eye on the budding
European Union to see how events unfold as the disease progresses. bm
