U.S. Pacific Fleet no match for Russian air force
© 2000 Discerning the Times Digest and NewsBytes
An Russian SU 27SK-Flanker fighter (top) and a SU24M-Fencer bomber (reconnaissance) penetrated the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawks defenses and buzzed the deck, taking detailed photos in the process. The battle group was so taken off guard that a F/A-18 did not scramble from the Kitty Hawk to defend it until after the buzzing took place. The penetration illustrates in a shocking way just how deteriorated our naval forces are and how the Russian’s have advanced their technology using our tax dollars.

The London Telegraph reported on November 15 that two Russian fighter and reconnaissance planes penetrated the U.S. Pacific Fleet's defense umbrella and buzzed the American aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. The planes were so close that they were able to take detailed pictures of what was happening on the deck of the aircraft carrier. Only after a second pair of Su-24 and Su-27 planes buzzed the Kitty Hawk on Oct 17 did the carrier scramble an F/A-18 fighter to intercept the intruders.

The incident occurred after similar penetration attempts by Russian fighters evaded the Kitty Hawk's battle group three times over recent weeks. The Russian newspaper Izvestiya said, "If these had been planes on a war mission, the aircraft carrier would definitely have been sunk."

Until now the American people had been assured by the navy and the White House that our naval battle groups were impenetrable to such attacks. Obviously that is not true. The Clinton administration has allowed our military forces to decay into an ineffective, highly vulnerable condition. Besides cutting our military forces in half, gutting military spending for maintenance and new technology, Clinton has imposed social goals such as homosexual integration that has decimated morale in the military. A quick look at the list of woes in DTT's archives on this subject is enough to send shivers down anyone's back.

The failure of the Kitty Hawk battle group to stop the Russian planes confirms the sorry state of readiness of our navy that first came under close scrutiny late last year. WorldNetDaily (WND) reported February 14 that the Israeli air force had trounced a U.S. fighter force from the USS Theodore Roosevelt in a mock battle. During this training exercise in the Negev desert between Israeli air force F-16 pilots and U.S. Navy pilots from the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Israeli air force pilots, according to the Jerusalem Post, "shot down" 220 Navy F-14s and F-18s while only "losing" 20 F-16s. In one exercise, the paper said, the reported kill ratio was 40:1 in the Israelis' favor, an outcome so stunning, according to an Israeli officer quoted by the Post, the results weren't made public to "save the reputations of U.S. Navy pilots."

Tragically, the U.S. navy is a paper tiger and China and the rest of the world now know it. Since Russia has committed its forces to help if China attacks Taiwan, China also knows it has little to fear from the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Not only is Taiwan vulnerable, but Japan and the Philippines are also now at risk. We are horribly vulnerable to all kinds of military action, or threats of military action, by China and Russia. V mc
